General election ballots can be requested by mail now

“We can mail it to them and they can find the application on the county website or get one here in the office,” Melby explained. “They can mail the request in, drop it off in the office or in the drop box on the west side of the courthouse. They can also email me the application.”

“The first day ballots can be mailed out is Sept. 28. The first day to vote early in office is Oct. 5. Voters don’t have to wait until Sept. 28 to send an application in, if they want the ballot to be mailed. They can send the application earlier than Sept. 28,” she said further.

“Oct. 23 is the last day to mail out a ballot,” Melby continued. “If a voter would like to come into the office to vote, they still have to fill out the application and the last day to vote early in office is the day before the election.”

She stressed, “Everyone has to fill out the application if they want to vote early. Voters had to do it every time they vote early – even if they filled out the application once before for another application.”
