YORK – The York County Sheriff’s Office participated in the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” national impaired-driving enforcement campaign from Aug. 21 through Sept. 7.
During the campaign, YSO deputies made 201 motorist contacts throughout York County, according to Sgt. Taylor Samek. Those enforcement efforts, he said, resulted in seven DUI arrests, 22 speeding citations, five open container citations, three reckless driving citations and three felony arrests.
“The York County Sheriff’s Office reminds motorists that impaired driving puts everyone on the road at risk,” Sgt. Samek said. “Drivers should never operate a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any other substance that may impair their ability to drive safely. If you see a reckless or impaired driver in York County, call 402-362-4927 and report it. Providing information about an unsafe driver may help prevent a crash and potentially save a life.”
The York County Sheriff’s Office conducts overtime enforcement efforts such as this campaign in conjunction with funding provided by the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.
