YORK – The York County Commissioners and York County Highway Superintendent Ashley Rasmussen talked about road conditions this past week during the county board’s regular meeting.
“Well, it’s been raining again and there are a lot of crops coming out of the fields, so we are doing what we can to keep up the conditions of the roads,” Rasmussen said.
She also noted how, as the crops go out, fences are going into fields – and everyone is reminded how fences have to stay out of the public right-of-way.
“I want to commend your team,” said Commissioner Chairman Daniel Grotz. “They are really doing a great job.”
She said extra attention will be given to some roads in the southern part of the county after harvest, as they will be in need of repair.
“Also, congratulations on passing your certification,” Grotz said to Rasmussen, noting how she recently passed her certification testing with the Nebraska Department of Transportation. She is now a Class B highway superintendent and after two years on the job (as well as some additional continuing education), she will automatically become a Class A highway superintendent.
The county board also said yes to the year-end certification of the county highway superintendent which will result in the county earning an incentive payment for the last quarter of the year. This is done each year, to verify that the county has a licensed highway superintendent – now that the county does, they could verify it for the last quarter.
