BDS advances past short-handed Hampton squad

Bruning-Davenport/Shickley’s Isaac Kamler hauls down an offensive rebound during first-half action against Hampton Saturday afternoon at the York City Auditorium.

YORK — The Bruning-Davenport/Shickley Eagles advanced to the second round of the boys’ Crossroads Conference tournament with a 50-4 win over the Hampton Hawks Saturday afternoon at the York City Auditorium.

BDS improved to 10-5 with the win while Hampton, which suited just six players, half of which were freshmen, dropped to 1-13. The Eagles will play Cross County, which beat Dorchester 70-27 Saturday, Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at the City Auditorium.

The Eagles led 14-0 after the first quarter and 33-0 at halftime. Hampton’s first score of the game came at the 4:34-mark of the third quarter from a 3-pointer from freshman point guard Drake Schafer.
