Athlete of the Week - Isaac Noyd, Sr., Cross County

In one of the biggest football games in the state last Friday night, Cross County running back Isaac Noyd and his teammates rose to the occasion. The Class D-1 No. 1 Cougars welcomed undefeated No. 4 Howells-Dodge to Stromsburg for a measuring-stick game. Cross County defended its wet and muddy home field, beating the Jags 28-0. Noyd, half of the Cougars’ 1-2 punch in the backfield, was a thorn in the Jags’ side all night. Behind a big and physical offensive line, the 5-foot-9, 150-pound Noyd showed explosive burst while rushing for a game-high 205 yards and three touchdowns on 13 carries. His scoring runs were of 62, 34 and 55 yards. Prep football fans know Cross County’s offense can run the ball – that’s no secret. But the Cougars may have opened some eyes around the state with their defensive performance – Noyd finished his night with six tackles.
