Dona J. Sullivan age 75 of Waco died early Tuesday morning August 26, 2008 at Henderson Health Care Hospital in Henderson, Nebraska. Dona was born September 27, 1932 to Heinrich and Leona Von Minden (Leybold). She graduated from Waco High School in 1950. She then attended Lincoln General School of Nursing and graduated in 1953.
Harvey F. Scheiding, 86, of Blue Hill died Monday, Aug. 25, 2008 at Blue Hill Care Center.
Services are Saturday, Aug. 30, 11 a.m., at Blue Hill Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Joshua T. Lowe officiating. Burial in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Blue Hill. Visitation 10 a.m. - 9 p.m., Friday at Merten-Butler Mortuary, Blue Hill and one hour prior to services at the church.
Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church or Mary Lanning Hospice. Merten-Butler Mortuary of Blue Hill is in charge of arrangements.
Linda Marie (Hansen) Bristol was born to Levi and Elna Hansen on February 24, 1941, at Warren Memorial Hospital in Friend, Nebraska. She passed away July 22, 2008 at Bryan LGH Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Wayne H. “Bud” Person, 82, of Central City, died at Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital on Saturday, August 23, 2008.
Frank J. Vrbka, 88, of Utica, died Friday, August 22, 2008.
He was born on May 10, 1920. Frank was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Utica, Knights of Columbus and was a farmer in York County until 1979.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta (Erdkamp) Vrbka; parents, Edward and Mary (Pazdersky) Vrbka; and brothers, Edward, Ernest and Leo Vrbka.
Mary Maneely, 83 of Columbus, died Thursday, August 21, 2008, at the Golden Living Center in Columbus.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 25 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Columbus with Rev. Ray Norris officiating. Interment will be in the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Monday from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. with a 10:15 a.m. family prayer service at the church.
Norma R. Lauber, 76, of Geneva, died Monday, August 18, 2008 in Geneva.
She was born on April 23, 1932 in Downs, KS and was a1950 graduate of Phillipsburg, KS high school and the Colorado Woman's College in Denver. She taught music at Ohiowa Public School and taught piano lessons in her home. She retired after 26 years as field representative for the US Census Bureau and worked part time at Elder's Jewelry and Kay-Marie stores, both of Geneva.
Cecily E. North, 85, Lincoln, died Saturday, August 16, 2008. Born in Ziebach County, SD on March 1, 1923 on the Rosebud Indian Reservation to William Hatton and Fern V. (Shelton) Ewing. She was a retired librarian. Cecily was employed as Inter-library loan officer at UNL and later worked at the University of Nebraska Press. She attended South Dakota State University for two years starting at age 16. She transferred to UNL and graduated in 1941.Married to Donald North in 1958. Served on the YWCA Board of Directors and the Lincoln Action Program Board of Directors.
Evelyn Ruth Salmons Ott, 67, died August 15, 2008. She was born in Iola, KS on March 28, 1941 to Harold & Thelma (Cooper) Greer. She was a Financial Secretary at Roper & Sons Funeral Services. Evelyn was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church and Triangle Club, Red Hat Society, Goldwing Touring Assoc. and Chicks & Chasers Square Dance Club. Evelyn enjoyed playing the piano, singing, reading, playing solitaire, attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and recitals and driving her convertible with the top down and the A/C on!
Mildred A. Naber, age 78 of Waco, died Sunday, August 17, 2008 at York. She was born December 27, 1929 to Julius and Henrietta (Rathjen) Rathje in York. She was baptized at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York on January 12, 1930 and confirmed on June 13, 1943. Mildred was a graduate of York High School.
