Mount Marty College announces Spring graduates

YANKTON, S.D. — Mount Marty College held spring 2009 commencement exercises on Saturday, May 9, at the Laddie E. Cimpl Arena, Yankton. Dr. Martin E. Marty gave the commencement address. James Wilcynski of York earned his BA and was summa cum laude.

Weedin, Hrnicek make UNMC pharmacy dean's lists

Seventy-two students from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Pharmacy were named to the Spring 2009 dean’s list. To qualify for the dean’s list, pharmacy students must place in the top 20 percent of their class and maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or above. York area students include: Lisa Weedin of Henderson and Megan Hrnicek of Seward.

Gloystein earns her Doctorate


Jennifer Gloystein graduated on May 16, 2009 from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri, where she obtained her Doctorate of Physical Therapy. She is the daughter of Dr. Bradley and Mary Gloystein and granddaughter of Floyd and Virginia Gloystein, all of York. Jennifer has accepted a position at the Hruska Clinic in Lincoln, NE, beginning July 1, 2009.

Cogswell receives degree from Seton Hall University

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — McCool Junction resident Curtis A. Cogswell received a Doctor of Education in Educ Leadership Mgmt Policy in May 2009 from Seton Hall University.

Epp, Nienhueser awarded scholarships

GRAND ISLAND —Eleven Central Community College students have each received a $500 Students-at-a-Distance Scholarship.

The Central Community College Foundation provides the funding for the scholarship, which is available to CCC students who are working toward a diploma or degree and are taking courses at a distance.

Recipients completed at least six credit hours of individualized, satellite, video/IP or Web-based courses during the 2008-09 academic year with at least a 2.5 grade point average. They must register for six or more credit hours for the 2009-10 year, with at least three of the credits in courses delivered at a distance.

Area scholarship recipients are: Bobbi Epp of Bradshaw and Meghan Nienhueser of York.

Clifton graduates from Union College

LINCOLN — Danielle Irene Clifton of Benedict graduated with a Bachelor of Science in psychology and an Associate of Science in pre-allied health during the Union College Commencement ceremonies on May 10. Union College awarded 216 degrees to 202 students.
